GREAT WINTER ADVENTURES OUTSIDE TROMSØ

This Winter the area around Tromsø has been the best place in the world to watch the great Humpback whales hunting for herring . We have been out several times with  M/S " BigFisher " watching them very closely - this has been the adventure of my life.
On the 21. of January the sun was back in Tromsø after beeing under the horizon for two months.

The aurora borealis is still here. I took this picture from Glimbukta - the opposite side of Finnkroken and Reinøya.

Skipper Lisa out watching the big whales.

A lot of interest for whalewatching up here.

A little overcrowded

The following Pictures is a taste of how it looks when 6 humpbacks are hunting for herring. They cooperate to hunt the herrings on shallow water, and make cooperated attacks from beneath with their enormous mouths open- It's a great hunt when you can watch this at short distance. You can hear the talking beetween the whales, and they smell like a Fish factory when they open their mouths.

HUMPBACK'S GOING COMPLETELY CRAZY

PROUD FISHERMEN - GUNTER STORR, FRANK BRODRECHT AND MORTEN WILLUMSEN.
HENRIK BOLTEN  TOOK THE PICTURE.
AND NOW THE " BIGFISHER " AND IT'S CREW IS PREPARING FOR THE BIG SKREI FISHING. AND THE BIG HALIBUTS IS BACK ON SHALLOW WATER IN APRIL :-)))
This halibut is still my personal record butt - 110 kg and 2,06 meter. Now we will hunt for the 150 + +

Henrik Bolten  fighting with a big halibut on his kayak - Dominik Engelbrechter and Ringo are watching. As far as I know Henrik still has the World Record Kayak halibut with his 75 kg butt from Kvalsund
Burkhard Plichta With a Nice cod - and his good smile !  Now the big cod - the skrei - is back up her. I have made two trips the last week, and the Ocean was full og big cod. This year I will hunt for the 30 + + big ones - and I know they will be there.
